There’s more to Reese Witherspoon’s new Crate & Barrel brand ambassador gig than meets the eye.

Yes, she stars in the home brand’s holiday advertising campaign — playing the perfectionist holiday host with impeccable decor and a few pyrotechnic party tricks up her preppy sleeves (anyone else getting some Madeline Mackenzie vibes?) — but in addition to the ads, Witherspoon has also forged a partnership between the company and Draper James, the lifestyle label she launched in 2015.

As part of the collab, Witherspoon handpicked her favorite holiday items from Crate & Barrel — which are now available to browse on the company’s website — and also selected a handful of gifts from Draper James, which will be sold online and in Crate & Barrel stores. The offering on the brand’s website currently features four dog-themed items, including a small tray, mugs, plates and coasters.

“We are honored to work with Reese Witherspoon, who expresses so many of the best qualities of our brand — style, warmth and optimism,” said Steve Woodward, president of Crate and Barrel, in a news release. “She has shown the world she has an eye for design, and we’re thrilled for her to showcase that as an ambassador for the company.”

The project, from HBO alum Michael Ellenberg, is poised to hit the marketplace in the coming weeks and be shopped to premium cable networks and streaming services. More than a decade after Friends wrapped its run, star Jennifer Aniston is plotting her return to the small screen.

In one of the largest TV packages to date, Aniston and Reese Witherspoon are attached to star in an untitled series exploring morning shows and the larger New York media scene that they inhabit.

The package, which has not yet hit the market, is expected to be taken out to premium cable outlets like HBO and streaming services including Netflix. Given the stars attached, it is expected to draw significant interest from multiple bidders.

The project is based on an original idea and is being spearheaded by former HBO head of drama Michael Ellenberg and his newly launched film and TV production company Media Res. Jay Carson (House of Cards) is attached to pen the script. Academy Award nominee Steve Kloves (Wonder Boys, Harry Potter) will executive produce. Witherspoon will also executive produce alongside her Hello Sunshine banner topper Lauren Levy Neustadter. Aniston also will be credited as an executive producer.

Reese Witherspoon, Naomi Watts and Bruna Papandrea are teaming up for an adaptation of the best-selling Australian book called “Penguin Bloom”.

The story follows Sam Bloom, a Sydney-based mother of three who, following an accident, becomes paralyzed from the chest down and receives help from an unlikely source — a magpie named Penguin that helps the family adjust to Sam’s new condition.

New York Times best-selling author Bradley Trevor Greive wrote Penguin Bloom, which features photographs from Sam’s husband, Cameron.

Watts is set to star in the feature, which also is being produced by Aussie-based producer Emma Cooper. Penguin Bloom will film in Australia. The production is still looking for a screenwriter and a director.

Even though Witherspoon and Papandrea have gone separate ways as producing partners under their Pacific Standard banner, which is responsible for hits like Gone Girl and Wild, the duo are still set to produce a number of projects they have in development. This includes an adaptation of Jessica Knoll’s Luckiest Girl Alive.
