Newly engaged Reese Witherspoon, who has had a string of high profile relationships with some of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelors, admits that her friends helped her change her outlook on love.

“A good girlfriend of mine said to me there’s something you learn as you get older as a woman: stop chasing after men and start looking at the men that are chasing you,” she explains. “That’s a hard thing to recognise, but it really rings true with me.”

The mother-of-two also reveals that she’s finally got the work-life balance just right – and couldn’t be happier.

“It’s important to cultivate a personal life that makes you just as happy as your professional life and I work really hard on that. I have a lot of interests so your whole life isn’t just about making movies. That’s a dangerous place to be,” she adds.

Reese Witherspoon, who got engaged to Hollywood talent agent Jim Toth recently, says she wants to extend her family.   The 34-year-old actor already has two children — 11-year-old Ava and seven-year-old Deacon with  ex-husband actor Ryan Phillipe. “Oh sure, I would be lucky to have more kids. When it starts out, it’s physically exhausting, and then it becomes very emotional. It’s been really fascinating,” said the Legally Blonde star.

Witherspoon ended her marriage with Phillipe in 2006, but insisted that dating as a single mother was not difficult as it showed the men who were interested in pursuing a relationship with her would be willing to embrace family life.

“In some ways, it’s really good, because if somebody’s not interested in having a family, they don’t want to go out with you in the first place. It kind of weeds out the guys who aren’t serious,” the Hollywood beauty added.

How Reese Witherspoon’s Advice Helped Michelle Williams

When Michelle Williams has trouble putting her problems in perspective, she remembers some advice she got from Reese Witherspoon. In the new issue of Marie Claire, the Blue Valentine actress recalls being super-stressed over the challenges of single parenthood. She was sharing her feelings with Witherspoon, one of Hollywood’s savviest and most successful ladies. And after hearing about Michelle’s problems, here’s what Reese said:

“Yes, I understand, but think about how much more difficult this would be without the luxury of a reliable, steady income.”

Now there‘s a perspective you don’t see too often in materialistic Hollywood! Williams, 30, says that she still thinks of Witherspoon’s words when she’s having a rough week.

“When things are difficult for me as a single parent, I always reflect on how much harder it would be if I didn’t have money — if I couldn’t afford a babysitter to go to yoga class or out to dinner with a girlfriend,” Williams tells the magazine.

Michelle Williams has one daughter, five-year-old Matilda. Williams and Matilda’s father Heath Ledger dated for three years before breaking up in 2007, two years before Ledger’s tragic death at age 28.

With her critically acclaimed performance in Blue Valentine, Williams is on her way to becoming a major Hollywood star. She’s even garnered the respect of another important Hollywood mama, Kate Winslet, who wishes they were BFFs.

“She and I are quite intimate in my fantasy friendship, built on admiration and respect,” Winslet confesses to Marie Claire.

Reese Witherspoon: “I Think I Look Bad in Every Picture”

December
2010

Poor Reese Witherspoon. She masochistically Googles herself when she’s feeling low, and she doesn’t even find solace in all the pretty pictures of her out there.

“I literally think I look bad in every picture,” she confided on Chelsea Lately tonight, enjoying a reunion of sorts with her This Means War costar, Chelsea Handler.

“I don’t know, who feels good looking at themselves?” the Oscar winner wondered, acknowledging thatalso  she hates watching herself on film. “Nobody, right? It’s torture. Why would you want to watch yourself being stupid and pretending to be somebody else?”

Hmm, maybe that should have been the tag line for How Do You Know: “Watch Reese, Paul and Owen be stupid other people!”

In the rom-com, Reese plays a pro softball player.

“And you’re not a lesbian?” Chelsea asked, just to clear that up.

“No—not in the movie,” Reese fired back.

More girl talk ensued about tipsy plane rides with their director McG (“he’s a hot mess,” Chelsea declared), Christmas plans (“spending time with my kids,” Reese said) and the barn Reese is building to hold all her animals.

“I really do have animal friends,” she said, namechecking her pigs, Booker T. Washington and Lavender Valentine, goats George and Martha Washington and, of course, her donkeys, Honky and Tonky.

“I wanted to call them Honky Tonk and Badonkadonk,” Reese recalled, “but the kids weren’t so into it. They didn’t know what ‘badonkadonk’ meant. So apparently I am doing some good parenting.”

Reese Witherspoon says a blind date blew his chances when he corrected her grammar.

The actor’s assessment of the date was reported in Showbiz Spy, with Witherspoon saying:

“I had someone correct my grammar on a blind date, and I knew in the first 10 minutes that the date was over.

“You just don’t correct someone’s grammar.

“I don’t know what I did wrong. I don’t know.

“I’m from Tennessee. I probably said ‘ain’t’ or something.”

Moving on from that experience, Witherspoon is currently dating Hollywood agent Jim Toth.

Reece, 34, admits she enjoys talking about relationships, saying:

“I’m literally the girl who talks constantly about relationships.

“I hang up with one friend, and I pick up the phone and call another one.

“It’s an ongoing dialogue all day long.

“I don’t understand a woman who doesn’t talk about love and relationships.”

Reese divorced Ryan Phillippe in 2007 and ended a high-profile relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal last year.
