Reese Witherspoon has said that she thinks it is important for actors to have other interests.
The 34-year-old Oscar winner insisted that it is not enough to just have a movie career.
She told Total Film: “I like to take classes, I read a lot – I have a lot of interests so your whole life isn’t just about making movies. That’s a dangerous place to be.”
Witherspoon went on to say that while she admires actresses such as Meryl Streep, she thinks spending time with her 11-year-old daughter Ava and 7-year-old son Deacon is more important than constantly focussing on her movie projects.
She explained: “As an actress, it would be lovely to think that we’re all Meryl Streep or Diane Keaton who just works endlessly but that’s not true.
“It’s important to cultivate a personal life that makes you just as happy as your professional life and I work really hard on that. I spend time with my kids and my girlfriends. It’s important to enrich yourself in lot of different ways.”

Reese Witherspoon, 35, is in a wedding dress whirl. After her engagement to Jim Toth hit the celeb channels last December, Reese began a shopping frenzy, including a trip to Paris to visit hot designer spots such as Chanel and Louis Vuitton. An elegant wedding requires a lot of fancy, designer stuff, after all.
But, reports US magazine, yesterday (Sunday) she couldn’t resist a visit to that LA mecca, Melrose Avenue, where she checked out Monique Lhuillier’s famous boutique to the stars. That’s where Carrie Underwood’s fabulous wedding dress was recently created. Will Reese Witherspoon’s be next? There is no word, yet, on whether a selection was made, and the actual date is still up in the air.
The shopping trip took Reese away from a special, casual weekend where she and Jim celebrated their one-year-together anniversary. They took in a rock concert Saturday night and just generally hung out together. Maybe a preview of married life?

Avon’s Global Ambassador Reese Witherspoon celebrated the company’s 125th Anniversary on Tuesday in Atlanta.
Reese was joined by Avon CEO Andrea Jung for the event, which was part of the 16-city “Avon Believe World Tour” to celebrate the company’s heritage and belief in its mission to empower women. Special guests such as Fergie, Patrick Dempsey, Suze Orman, Zoe Saldana and Yasmin Le Bon are expected to make appearances at many of the world tour events.
Meawhile, People magazine has Reese on its cover this week with a story that says the star is in wedding-countdown mode, planning her big event with talent agent Jim Toth. The actress, 34, went to Paris on Jan. 20 for a girlfriend weekend that included wedding gown fittings, says the mag.
