Jennifer Garner didn’t really need candles as she celebrated her 38th birthday on Saturday – given that there was enough star wattage at her party to light up all of Pacific Palisades.
To mark the occasion at Garner and husband Ben Affleck’s home, Reese Witherspoon brought her steady companion since February, Hollywood agent Jim Toth, and her children, Ava and Deacon.
Also singing “Happy Birthday” to Garner: Molly Sims, Jason Bateman with wife Amanda Anka, Tobey Maguire with Jen Meyer, Don Cheadle, Jimmy Kimmel, Jon Favreau and Laurence Fishburne.
The weekend of celebrating actually started on Friday, when Garner and older daughter Violet, 4, devoted part of the afternoon to pampering mother-daughter pedicures at Lemon Nails & Spa in Pacific Palisades.

When Ryan Phillipe and Reese Witherspoon fell in love on the set of Cruel Intentions we couldn’t have wished for a more beautiful couple.
But when the pair announced their split in 2006 we were really sad that another Hollywood relationship had bitten the dust.
But perhaps all is not lost as following his split from girlfriend Abbie Cornish, Ryan has admitted having “complicated feelings” about his divorce from Reese.
The actor told Men’s Health magazine: “I still have sadness and complicated feelings about my divorce. But how beneficial is it to keep hanging onto those feelings?”
And Ryan also admitted to finding his life just as difficult as he did when he was younger.
“I thought the more experience you had, the more certain you would be about life. But I’m finding the opposite, man. I’m more in wonder and confusion than I was in my 20s.”

Ryan Phillippe has revealed that he still feels sadness over his divorce from Reese Witherspoon.
Speaking to Men’s Health magazine, the 35-year-old said that he likens the split to a trauma.
“I still have sadness and complicated feelings about my divorce,” the MacGruber co-star said.
“How beneficial is it to keep hanging on to those feelings? If someone lives through an accident, his aim is to become better and healthy.”
Phillippe and Witherspoon were married for nearly seven years and have two children together.
The actor recently revealed that he shares a “great” friendship with his ex-wife.
Gyllenhaal: ‘It’s okay being single’

Jake Gyllenhaal has revealed that he is doing “okay” since becoming single again.
The Brokeback Mountain actor, who is believed to have split from Reese Witherspoon late last year, said that he is not sure what is the most important thing in life now having previously thought that it was to find the right partner.
Gyllenhaal told GQ magazine: “Who am I to say what the most important thing in life is? The best answer I could give to any of those things is that I really don’t know. Particularly right now in my life.
“People can kind of move and change and grow. And so in some ways, as much pain as there is, there’s also a positive outlook on it. You know, some relationships last a lifetime, and some relationships don’t.”
Talking about his parents’ recent divorce, he said: “I think it takes a lot of courage for my parents to make the decision that they made, and I trust both of them and their outlook on life. They’re wonderful parents to me and my sister [Maggie].
“I think any successful marriage, even if it hasn’t lasted for a lifetime, will create a sense of an ideal. But I don’t have a fantasy. There’s not a fantasy. I know it’s messy, is what I want to say.”

Tom Cruise and Reese Witherspoon are in talks to star together in the new rodeo love story Paper Wings.
The Mission Impossible hero would play a rodeo champion who falls for an up-and-coming country singer, played by Oscar-winning Reese, The LA Times reports.
The romantic drama was set up at New Line before moving to Sony, where it is being produced by Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment.
Italian filmmaker Gabriele Muccino, who worked with Will on Seven Pounds and The Pursuit Of Happyness, is among the directors who are in talks to helm the project.
Reese is an obvious choice for leading lady after her Oscar-winning turn as June Carter Cash in Walk The Line.
She recently signed up to star in The Pioneer Woman, about a woman who falls in love with a cowboy while on a cross-country road trip and winds up living on an Oklahoma ranch.
